A female member of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, in the Ekuru community of Kwara State, has cried out in distress after discovering that her child was among the 35 worshippers abducted during an attack by armed men on Tuesday, November 18.

The distraught mother tearfully called out for her missing child, Timileyin, saying she had not seen her since the incident.

According to another church member, the congregation had gathered for a thanksgiving service to celebrate the safe return of members who had been kidnapped three weeks earlier. However, the service was abruptly interrupted when armed attackers invaded the church around 6 p.m.

“The incident happened around 6 p.m. The armed men came into our church and abducted almost 35 people. Three members lost their lives and one person is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

“We were holding a thanksgiving service for those who were rescued about three weeks ago. That is why we gathered in the evening to thank God for their safe return,” the member explained.

The Ekuru community remains in shock as families anxiously await updates on the abducted worshippers.
