As Christians around the world commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to journalists and residents of the FCT, encouraging a renewed commitment to the values of sacrifice, hope, and national unity.
In a special Easter message, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, urged media professionals and all Nigerians to reflect on the deeper meaning of Easter—emphasizing its powerful symbolism of faith, renewal, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.
“This season reminds us that no matter the challenges we encounter, there is always hope for a better tomorrow,” Comrade Ike stated. “The resurrection of Christ is a symbol of victory and renewal. It inspires us to commit to unity, resilience, and service to one another.”
Addressing members of the media, Comrade Ike underscored the critical role journalists play in shaping public discourse and fostering national development. She called on journalists to remain committed to professional ethics, truth, and justice, even amid the nation’s socio-economic difficulties.
“Let this Easter season inspire us to believe in a brighter future—one that we can build together through faith, responsibility, and unwavering dedication to our country,” she said.
The NUJ FCT Chairman also stressed the importance of safety and well-being for journalists, reaffirming the Council’s continued commitment to supporting their welfare and professional growth.
Concluding the Easter message, the NUJ FCT Secretary, Jide Oyekunle, joined in wishing all Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration, filled with love, reflection, and renewed purpose.
