Arsenal F.C. have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City F.C. were held to a dramatic 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth.
City needed a victory to keep the title race alive until the final day, but Bournemouth’s late resistance ended their hopes and confirmed Arsenal as champions. The result marked a major breakthrough for manager Mikel Arteta, whose side had finished runners-up in the previous three seasons.

Arsenal moved to the brink of the title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Burnley, extending their lead to five points. The North London club have responded strongly since losing to City last month, winning four consecutive league matches without conceding a goal to secure their first league crown.

City’s disappointing result came just days after reports emerged that manager Pep Guardiola could leave the club at the end of the season after a decade in charge. Despite completing a domestic cup double with victory over Chelsea F.C. in the FA Cup final, Guardiola’s side failed to maintain their push for another league title.
Bournemouth took the lead in the 39th minute through teenager Eli Junior Kroupi, who curled a superb strike into the top corner to set a new Premier League scoring record for a teenager in a debut season. City struggled to respond until Erling Haaland scored deep into stoppage time, but the equaliser came too late to rescue their fading title challenge.

The result also secured European football for Bournemouth for the first time in the club’s history, with manager Andoni Iraola overseeing a remarkable campaign. Arsenal supporters meanwhile celebrated the end of a six-year trophy drought as Arteta delivered one of the club’s most significant achievements in the Premier League era.
