President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the spate of violent attacks across the country over the weekend, including a suicide bombing in Borno State, the lynching of wedding guests in Plateau State, and an explosion in a Kano scrap metal facility.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sorrow over the suicide attack in Konduga, Borno State, which claimed several lives. Tinubu described the incident as a cowardly assault on innocent Nigerians and urged security forces to intensify their operations to eliminate the remaining elements of the Boko Haram insurgency who continue to target soft civilian areas.

Offering his condolences to the government and people of Borno State, the President directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate relief and support to survivors of the bombing.

In Kano, a tragic explosion at a scrap metal yard killed five and injured ten others on Saturday morning. Tinubu expressed sympathy with the victims’ families and called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the blast. He also emphasized the need for stringent safety protocols at industrial and informal work sites across the country.

Equally troubling was the brutal killing of 12 wedding guests traveling from Zaria, Kaduna State, to Jos, Plateau State. Among the victims were the father and brother of the groom. In a separate statement, President Tinubu denounced the attack as “barbaric and unacceptable,” directing the Nigerian Police Force to coordinate with other security and intelligence agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The freedom of movement for all Nigerians is a constitutional right and must not be violated under any guise,” the President stated. “The Plateau State government must take decisive steps to break this cycle of violence and ensure accountability.”

He further assured affected communities and grieving families that the federal government would not allow such atrocities to go unpunished, calling for calm and cooperation as investigations proceed.
