Kenya’s President, William Ruto, has stirred reactions following remarks he made during a speech at the Business Insider Africa Summit.

His comments came in response to earlier statements attributed to Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, who had addressed Nigeria’s economic challenges while comparing conditions in other African countries, including Kenya.

Tinubu had noted that although fuel prices were high in Nigeria, citizens should be grateful when compared with the situation in some other African nations.

Reacting, Ruto defended Kenya’s education system and communication standards, stating that the country ranks highly in English proficiency. He added that Kenya’s education system supports strong global communication, drawing a comparison with Nigeria that has since generated debate.

Ruto further emphasised that Kenya continues to maintain a solid international reputation in education and language, insisting that its academic standards remain competitive on the global stage.

The remarks have since triggered mixed reactions across social media, with many Nigerians and Kenyans debating issues of national identity, education quality, and economic realities in both countries.
