Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a dreaded armed robbery and kidnapping kingpin, Mohammed Bammi, popularly known as Zomo.

The suspect, a native of Yelwa village in Plateau State, has long been on the police radar for his alleged involvement in a series of kidnappings and robberies across Doma Local Government Area and surrounding communities.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, Zomo narrowly escaped arrest last month when several of his gang members were captured. However, his luck ran out during a clearance operation at Doka forest, where eagle-eyed operatives apprehended him after he attempted to attack officers with a knife.

During interrogation, the suspect led detectives to a hideout at Alagye village in Doma, where the following items were recovered:

One pump-action rifle

A locally made AK-47 rifle with magazine

Two Tecno mobile phones

A pair of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) uniforms

In a separate operation at Gidan Taku village in Awe Local Government Area, police operatives arrested five suspected members of a notorious 10-man kidnapping syndicate.

SP Nansel assured that the command remains committed to flushing out criminal gangs terrorizing the state and restoring public confidence in security operations.
