Nigeria and Switzerland have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation during the 10th Round of Political Consultations, held on at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.
The high-level diplomatic engagement brought together senior officials from both countries, with the Nigerian delegation led by Ambassador Janet Olisa, OON, Director of Regions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Swiss team was headed by Ambassador Philipp Stalder, Director for Africa at Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Strengthening a Strategic Partnership
The consultations form part of an ongoing dialogue mechanism established under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 8, 2016, to institutionalize annual bilateral meetings.

The platform has become a critical avenue for deepening diplomatic ties and exploring areas of strategic cooperation between Nigeria and Switzerland.
Discussions during the 2025 session focused on a broad range of issues, including:
* Trade and investment promotion
* Legal and judicial cooperation
* Regional peace and security
* Humanitarian affairs
* Global governance and multilateral engagement
Officials from both sides reiterated the importance of sustained dialogue in strengthening mutual interests and addressing shared global challenges.
The political consultations underscore the growing friendship between Nigeria and Switzerland, particularly in advancing stability, economic development, and legal cooperation across Africa and Europe.
