Kano Boosts Security Ahead of Eid Prayers, Bans Sallah Durbar

As the Eid prayers draw near, the Kano State government has intensified security measures across strategic locations and Eid grounds within the metropolitan area.

A correspondent from Radio Nigeria reports that despite the security agencies’ ban on the traditional Sallah Durbar, residents are making early preparations for the prayers, maintaining their festive spirit.

Joint security forces, including the police and paramilitary agencies, were observed patrolling major streets to ensure public safety and maintain order. Officials emphasize that these proactive measures aim to prevent any potential security breaches, allowing for a peaceful celebration.

The Kano State government has reassured residents of its commitment to a secure environment. Expressing gratitude for the heightened security presence, residents like Malam Usman Sani and Bala Shehu told Radio Nigeria:

“We appreciate the efforts of the government and security agencies to ensure our safety during this celebration. We are confident that the Eid celebrations will be peaceful and enjoyable.”

The Kano State Police Command has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Authorities have pledged a swift response to any security concerns that may arise.

As the city prepares for Eid, the festive spirit is evident—residents are dressed in their finest attire, eager to mark the end of Ramadan. Despite security concerns, optimism and joy remain high, with Kano looking forward to a safe and vibrant Sallah celebration.
