Social media commentator and activist VeryDarkMan has expressed frustration over what he described as the government’s slow response to the kidnapping of several victims in Oyo State.
Reacting to a recent video released by the abductees, VeryDarkMan warned that Nigerians may be compelled to take matters into their own hands if authorities fail to secure the victims’ release within the next few days.
In a video shared online, he said:
“If in the next four days the federal government are not able to bring these people out, we’ll have no other option than to do the first crowdfunding to get them out.”
He further suggested that citizens might have to negotiate directly with the kidnappers if government efforts continue to fall short.
“We’ll be the ones to negotiate with the terrorists,” he stated.
His comments followed the circulation of an emotional video featuring one of the abducted victims, reportedly the principal among those kidnapped in the Oriire community of Oyo State.
In the video, the victim appealed to authorities for urgent intervention and urged the government to pursue dialogue and negotiations rather than armed force in efforts to secure their release.
The incident has continued to generate concern across the country, with many Nigerians calling on security agencies and the government to intensify efforts to rescue the victims safely.
VeryDarkMan’s remarks have also sparked debate on social media. While some Nigerians supported his call for urgent action, others questioned the proposal that citizens should directly negotiate with kidnappers.
