The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 17-year-old boy for the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS 2) student of the Real Madrid Football Academy in Elekahia, Port Harcourt.
The suspect was handed over to the police by the Rivers State Commissioner of Sports, Mr. Christopher Green, after a meeting with the victim, the suspect, their parents, and the school management.
According to Uche Sampson, the elder brother of the alleged victim, the incident occurred on October 22, 2025, when the 13-year-old girl was reportedly attacked while retrieving her clothes outside her hostel.
He explained that the suspect allegedly hit the victim on the back, sparking a physical struggle that ended with the suspect overpowering her and allegedly committing the assault.
Following the meeting, the suspect was transferred to the Elekahia Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The victim’s family expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Sports for his prompt response.
“He handled the situation like a father. He was very concerned and showed genuine care,” said Mr. Sampson.
Confirming the development, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the Elekahia Police Division has launched a full investigation into the matter.
