The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has appealed to Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying the country is already beginning to see the benefits of the administration’s bold reforms despite prevailing economic challenges.

Speaking while reflecting on Tinubu’s three years in office, Musa said many of Nigeria’s longstanding problems had been neglected by previous administrations, but the President had chosen to confront them directly.

According to the minister, the hardships currently being experienced by Nigerians are part of a difficult rebuilding process that will ultimately yield positive results.

“If he could have done this in three years, imagine if he has four or five additional years to finish,” Musa said.

He noted that Tinubu inherited several unresolved challenges and had taken courageous decisions that many leaders before him avoided.

“We need Nigerians to understand that a lot of the issues that were left unattended to are what he is addressing. He is taking very bold actions, and when you take bold actions, there will be difficulties at the beginning,” he stated.

Using an analogy of childbirth to explain the country’s current economic struggles, the Defence Minister said the pain Nigerians are enduring would eventually give way to prosperity.

“It’s just like a woman who is pregnant. When she is in labour, sometimes you might think that will be the last time she wants to give birth, but immediately she delivers, she becomes joyful,” he said.

Musa urged citizens to remain patient and united in support of the administration, expressing confidence that Nigeria would emerge stronger.

“So, all Nigerians should continue to work together with the President, give him a second term, and I can assure you that Nigeria will be far, far better than it is now,” he added.
