Nigeria’s Team ERROR has emerged overall winner of the 4th ECOWAS Regional Cybersecurity Hackathon, clinching the US$10,000 grand prize after 48 hours of intense competition designed to strengthen cybersecurity capacity across West Africa.

The regional event brought together top cybersecurity talents from across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), who competed through a series of technical challenges focused on innovation, digital security, and problem-solving.
Team Escadron of Benin secured second place and received US$8,000, while Togo’s RedTeam-TG finished third with a prize of US$6,000. Members of the top three teams were also awarded vouchers for professional cybersecurity certification courses.

Organisers said the hackathon served as a platform for collaboration and skills development, helping to advance regional efforts to tackle emerging cyber threats.
In the women’s category, three participants shared the top honours. CODJIA Débora Fifamè of Benin, Badom Grace R. of Liberia, and KOUASSY Besse Aude Marie of Côte d’Ivoire each received US$1,000 in recognition of their outstanding performances.
Ghana’s Osei Jennifer Serwaa earned a special award in the form of a cybersecurity certification course voucher.
The organisers also recognised the contributions of the remaining participating teams, with each of the nine teams receiving US$1,000.
“The hackathon demonstrated the growing cybersecurity talent across West Africa and the importance of regional cooperation in addressing digital security challenges,” the organisers said.
The ECOWAS Regional Cybersecurity Hackathon is part of broader efforts to build cyber resilience, encourage innovation, and strengthen digital security capabilities across member states.
