Tyson Fury says his long-awaited heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua is now in doubt, blaming promoter Eddie Hearn for demanding more money from Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh.
Fury and Joshua are understood to have signed contracts for a November 20 fight in New York City. However, Hearn has said work remains to be completed before the deal can be finalised.
The disagreement has now escalated, with Fury launching an explosive attack on Joshua and Hearn in a social media post.
“Doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight, doesn’t look like it’s going to happen,” Fury said.
“All because Eddie Hearn and that want more money.”
The 38-year-old Briton accused Hearn and Joshua of already receiving substantial financial backing from Alalshikh through various boxing and entertainment ventures.
“They’ve already had that much money off of Turki in the last few years, Eddie and AJ,” Fury said.
“They’ve had boxing deals, darts deals, snooker deals, they’ve had everything.”
Fury also accused Hearn of seeking additional money from Alalshikh despite the Saudi official’s previous support.
The former heavyweight champion then directed a series of insults at Hearn, accusing him of being “money-thirsty” and calling on him to stop delaying the proposed fight.
The Fury-Joshua bout has been one of boxing’s most anticipated heavyweight contests, but its proposed November date now faces uncertainty amid the dispute over the financial terms.
Hearn has yet to publicly respond to Fury’s latest comments.
