President Bola Tinubu has appointed Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo to lead the Directorate of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 re-election campaign.
Keyamo will serve as director, while the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, has been appointed Deputy Director I. Farouk Ahmed Umar will serve as Deputy Director II.
The appointments were announced in a statement by Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood.
According to the statement, the directorate will coordinate air transportation and logistics for campaign officials and personnel travelling across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
It will also work with other campaign directorates to organise travel schedules, manage logistical resources and support the movement of campaign teams during nationwide activities.
The statement said Keyamo’s experience as aviation minister would help him coordinate the directorate’s operations.
“His familiarity with the operational demands of the aviation industry is expected to provide useful leadership in coordinating the directorate’s activities and establishing an effective framework for air-mobilisation planning,” the statement said.
It added that Kuku and Umar would contribute aviation-sector leadership and technical expertise to the directorate.
The statement also stressed that campaign-related air transportation must comply with aviation safety requirements and applicable laws.
It said the directorate’s activities must maintain “a clear distinction between campaign operations and official government functions”, with campaign arrangements conducted through properly authorised channels.
The APC is organising Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign through its Presidential Campaign Council, which comprises political leaders and designated directorates responsible for coordinating preparations for the general election.
