Aviation Authorities Investigate Airfare Increase By Domestic Airlines

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in collaboration with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) have commenced investigation into recent airfare increase by domestic airline operators in the country.In a statement, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive, FCCPC, Mr. Babatunde Irukera explains that the action of the operators are in fragrant Violation of Section 107 (1)(a) and Section 108 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018 ( FCCPA).According to the statement captioned, “Coordinated increase in airfares by certain scheduled operators”, Mr. Irukera says, Section 107 (1)(a) forbids competitors from fixing prices, and Section 108 prohibits any…
