Seven travelers were kidnapped by suspected armed men near Ipele, along the Owo-Benin highway in Ondo State. According to sources, the victims were traveling from a South-South state to Akure, the Ondo State capital, when the abduction occurred over the weekend. Conflicting reports initially emerged about the number of kidnapped victims. However, Ondo State Police Command spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed that seven individuals were taken. “The police have launched an operation to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victims as soon as possible,” Odunlami assured.
