Former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, has regained his freedom after spending 22 days in captivity.
A source confirmed his release on Friday night, stating that the retired general is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital for security reasons.
Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, when armed bandits stormed his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. During the attack, two individuals sustained injuries, and one of the kidnappers was accidentally shot dead by a fellow gang member.
The gang, reportedly led by the notorious bandit kingpin Babaro, had demanded a ransom of ₦250 million for Tsiga’s release. However, it remains unclear whether any payment was made to secure his freedom.
As of now, government officials and security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have not issued any statements regarding his release.
