While at it the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed profound grief over a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 22 people, with several others critically injured. The victims, most of them young athletes and officials, were returning from the just-concluded National Sports Festival when the fatal crash occurred along the Kano–Zaria expressway.

In an official statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Kano State community.

“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Kano State, we extend our deepest sympathies over the devastating incident involving members of our sports delegation,” the statement read.
