Two more officials in the Oyo State Government have resigned their appointments under Governor Seyi Makinde, amid growing political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The officials are the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.

Both officials announced their resignations in separate letters to the governor, stating that their decisions take immediate effect.

Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and local government chairman, attributed his decision to an unconducive working environment.

In his resignation letter, he said he was no longer comfortable with the conditions within the administration, which he believed limited his ability to pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people.

Despite his decision to leave, Oyeleke thanked Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.

Similarly, Falana, an indigene of Ogbomoso, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to Makinde through the Chief of Staff.

He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral management body, describing his experience as worthwhile.

However, Falana did not disclose the reason for his resignation.

Their departures come shortly after the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, also resigned his appointment.

The Chief of Staff to the governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, had earlier stepped down, while other political appointees have also reportedly left the administration.

The wave of resignations comes as political realignments begin to emerge in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
