Delta State Showcases Creative Talents at Inaugural Ukodo Festival

The Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing budding talents in the creative industry by providing platforms that will help them thrive locally and globally.

This assurance was made by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, during the maiden edition of the Ukodo Festival held at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba. The event was organized by the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism as part of efforts to celebrate Delta’s cultural diversity and creative potential.

Commending the array of young performers who graced the stage, the Governor said, “As an administration, we will continue to support these talents because in them, we have discovered a wealth of creativity. Delta State is more than just an oil-rich region; we are a powerhouse of talent—whether in music, acting, comedy, or academics.”

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the state’s MORE Agenda aligns with the vision of the Ukodo Festival, which he described as “a celebration of joy, culture, unity, and identity.”

“The Ukodo Festival symbolizes the happiness and unity of the people. Our infrastructural projects and development strides across ethnic groups and communities speak to the joy and peace we’re building statewide,” he added.

He also hinted at plans to expand the scope of future editions of the festival to include wider participation across the 25 local government areas, making it a truly statewide event.

The festival was a colorful display of culture and talent, with electrifying performances from rising stars and popular artistes such as Rudeboy, HarrySong, Papi Urhobo, and Solar S. Fans were treated to an unforgettable night of music, dance, comedy, and cultural showcases from the state’s various ethnic groups.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Nigerian music star HarrySong expressed delight at the success of the festival, describing it as a “dream come true.”

“The Ukodo Festival is not just a celebration; it’s a platform for young musicians, dancers, comedians, and Nollywood stars to shine. Governor Oborevwori is truly bringing the MORE agenda to life, and we’ll keep supporting this vision,” he said.
