The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has booked 563 drivers nationwide for attempting to bribe its personnel while on duty.
FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, disclosed that the Osun State Sector Command recorded the highest number of offenders, with 155 drivers booked for attempting to induce marshals.

Ogungbemide said the development underscores the corps’ commitment to sanitising Nigerian roads, not only through enforcement of traffic laws but also by tackling corrupt practices that undermine public trust and jeopardise lives.

He stressed that bribery attempts against FRSC operatives are considered a grave violation of ethical and public safety standards.

Commending the Osun Sector Command for its vigilance and professionalism, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the high number of bookings as proof of the corps’ readiness to root out corruption and restore confidence in traffic management.

Particularly outstanding was Assistant Route Commander Babatunde Owoeye of the Osun Sector Command, who accounted for 104 of the total bookings. Mohammed hailed his integrity, dedication and professionalism, calling him a model officer.

The Corps Marshal reiterated that the FRSC will not tolerate any attempt to compromise patrol teams and is committed to building a culture of integrity where personnel who reject unethical behaviour are recognised and supported.

He added that targeted enforcement, performance evaluation and values-based reorientation remain key to achieving a corruption-free corps.

FRSC reminded motorists that offering bribes to its personnel is a criminal offence under Nigerian law and urged road users to obey traffic rules and treat officers with respect.
