The Amalgamation of Regional Youth Organizations of Nigeria (ARYON) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, citing economic reforms, youth empowerment initiatives and infrastructure projects as evidence of progress under the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the youth coalition also endorsed the forthcoming Renewed Hope Youth Festival scheduled for 12 June at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, describing it as a platform for youth development, leadership growth and national integration.
ARYON said Nigerian youths should unite across ethnic, religious and political lines to support nation-building efforts and reject actions capable of undermining national cohesion.
“Today, more than ever before, Nigerian youths must rise above ethnic, religious, regional and political differences to embrace a common vision of a united, prosperous and progressive nation,” the group said.
The organisation said it had assessed the administration’s performance over the past three years and concluded that ongoing reforms, though difficult, were necessary to address longstanding economic challenges.
“We acknowledge that the reforms undertaken by this administration have required sacrifices from Nigerians. However, we also recognise that many of these decisions were necessary to correct long-standing structural distortions that hindered national development,” ARYON said.
Among the achievements highlighted by the group were the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange market reforms, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme and major infrastructure projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.
ARYON also commended efforts aimed at expanding renewable energy and improving energy security, including the implementation of the revised National Energy Policy and National Energy Master Plan.
The coalition expressed sympathy for Nigerians affected by insecurity, including victims of kidnapping, banditry and terrorism, and called for intensified efforts by security agencies to secure the release of captives and bring perpetrators to justice.
It urged young Nigerians to embrace peace, innovation and constructive engagement, saying the country’s future depends on the active participation of its youth population.
“The future of Nigeria cannot be outsourced to a few individuals. It must be built collectively by millions of determined young Nigerians who believe in the possibilities of this nation,” the statement added.
