In a display of honor and gratitude, distinguished military personnel who rendered outstanding service under the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB) were formally recognized during the Third Combined Presentation of Medals and Awards Ceremony held on May 8, 2025.
The prestigious event, organized to acknowledge the dedication and professionalism of the Deputy Force Commander, Contingent Commanders, and other personnel, drew an audience of high-ranking dignitaries. Among those in attendance were members of the Diplomatic Corps, Government Ministers, Service Chiefs, Senior Officers of the National Armed Forces, and representatives from leading media outlets.
During the ceremony, medals and awards were presented to military officers who had not only distinguished themselves in service but also successfully completed their tour of duty with ESSMGB. The initiative highlighted ECOWAS’s ongoing commitment to peace, security, and stability within the West African sub-region.
The medal presentation reaffirmed the invaluable contributions of these brave servicemen and women to regional peacekeeping operations, strengthening cooperation between Guinea-Bissau and the wider ECOWAS community.
