Nollywood actress Sandra Okunzuwa has revealed that filming romantic scenes in movies contributed to the breakdown of one of her past relationships, describing on-screen intimacy as emotionally draining rather than enjoyable.

Speaking during an appearance on the BTS Reality Show, the actress challenged popular assumptions about kissing scenes in films, saying actors often perform such moments under intense pressure and public scrutiny.

“If you have twenty people watching you while kissing in the movie, it is impossible to enjoy it,” she said, adding that the presence of directors, camera operators and crew members makes it difficult for actors to become emotionally comfortable during filming.

Okunzuwa said she would gladly support the removal of intimate scenes from movies if audiences could still connect with the storyline without them.

According to her, the emotional impact of such scenes often extends beyond movie sets and affects actors’ private lives.

The actress recounted how a former boyfriend confronted her after receiving a video clip showing her kissing a colleague during a production.

“These things affect our personal relationships. For instance, I had to leave a relationship because of this,” she said.

Reflecting on the difficulties of dating within the entertainment industry, Okunzuwa said she understands why some people avoid relationships with actresses.

“It is hard; it is not easy. I do not blame people who say they cannot date actresses because it is not everyone who can take certain things,” she added.

Her comments have sparked wider conversations online about the pressures actors face balancing demanding film roles with personal relationships.
