Ange Postecoglou has been sacked as Nottingham Forest manager just after 40 days in charge, following his team’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday.
The club posted on its social media handle, “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Postecoglou’s time at Forest now stands as the shortest managerial reign for a permanent Premier League coach to leave a club mid-season.
Appointed on the 9th of September, this year, he failed to secure a win in any of his eight matches in charge across all competitions, collecting only one point from five league games.
Forest currently sits 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone.
The club is now on the search for their third manager of the season after Nuno Espirito Santo was also dismissed last month.
