Over 200 Residents of Natufe estate, off Babs Animashaun road Bode Thomas, Lagos, braved heavy rainfall to protest the alleged construction of a cemetery in their community.
The protesters chantted songs like we don’t want cemetery, no to cemetery, also carried placards with inscription, Residential areas are for d living, NATUFE community says no to cemetery in our community, Government should respect d power of the CDA, give us a recreational park and not a Cemetery, Our children needs protection and not disease.

They took the protest to the construction site, a large expanse bordered by residential buildings, a school, a church and just a few meters away from the Traffic Light at Bode Thomas junction.
The Chairperson, NATUFE/ANIMASHUN Community Development Association, CDA, Alhaja Omolabake Braimoh, said they were out to protest against the constructor of the cemetery, Olamide Amure.
Ahlaja Braimoh observed that the move started since 2020 , and they opposed to it only to noticed a continuation of the construction again.
According to her they went to the ministry of physical planning and urban development twice for an urgent meeting but were told to reschedule as the timing was too short.
As at the time of filing this report all efforts to get the developer Mr Olamide Amure to give his side of the story proved abortive.
