Madonna University Nigeria has denied allegations linking the institution to the alleged bullying and death of a student, William Fubara, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by its Office of the Director of Communications and Public Affairs on Thursday, the university said narratives circulating on social media were “malicious” and aimed at damaging its reputation.

The institution maintained that at no time was the deceased or any other student subjected to physical assault on campus. It also clarified that Fubara did not die within the university परिसर.

According to the statement, the student’s death occurred at his residence during the Easter break, contrary to reports suggesting he was attacked or killed on campus. The university further dismissed claims that the incident took place over the Easter weekend, noting that students were not on campus at the time.

The management disclosed that individuals responsible for spreading the alleged false information had been identified, adding that some had admitted their involvement and appealed for forgiveness.

While extending condolences to the family of the deceased, the university urged the public and media practitioners to refrain from spreading unverified information, warning that such narratives could deepen grief and create unnecessary tension.

It also confirmed that it is in contact with the bereaved family and has constituted a three-man delegation to attend the burial scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Fubara, a 100-level Psychology student at the Okija campus in Anambra State, was reported to have died on April 23, 2026, shortly after the Easter break.

Unverified reports on social media had alleged that his death followed months of bullying and a violent assault by fellow students. However, both the university and relevant authorities have insisted that such claims are inaccurate and have called for patience pending verified findings.
