German automaker Mercedes-Benz has reportedly filed a complaint with the Carabinieri against Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen over an alleged failure to complete payments for a leased vehicle.

Osimhen, widely regarded as one of football’s most prolific forwards, has built an impressive career across Europe, playing in Belgium, France, Italy, and now Turkey.

His breakthrough moment came at Napoli, where he played a key role in securing the club’s first Serie A title in nearly four decades, earning widespread acclaim.

The success led to a high-profile move to Galatasaray, where he reportedly earns over €20 million annually, making him the highest-paid player in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Off the pitch, Osimhen is known for both his luxurious lifestyle and generosity. He recently made headlines for reportedly sponsoring Nigerian fans’ trip to Istanbul for a derby clash against Fenerbahçe, a match in which he scored during a 3–0 victory.

However, a fresh controversy has emerged. According to Italian outlet Napolista, Mercedes-Benz has notified authorities over an unresolved issue involving a vehicle leased by Osimhen in 2023.

The company alleges that the player neither completed the purchase nor returned the car, resulting in an outstanding debt of €90,000 (approximately ₦142 million).

The report has sparked reactions given Osimhen’s substantial earnings, which far exceed the disputed amount. The striker, known for his affinity for luxury vehicles, has previously showcased a collection that includes high-end brands such as Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, and Mercedes-Benz.

As of now, neither Osimhen nor his representatives have issued an official response. Observers expect the matter to be resolved quickly as the forward aims to maintain focus on his career and avoid potential reputational damage.
