Plateau Holds LG Election October 9 2024

Plateau State has fixed October 9, 2024, for the conduct of local government elections. The Chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission, Plangji Cishak, disclosed this on Wednesday during an ongoing meeting with leaders of political parties held at the commission’s headquarters in Jos, the state capital. INEC Probes Election Disruptions In Enugu, Akwa-Ibom, Kano

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said it was investigating election disruptions that occurred during the rerun/by-elections in Enugu, Akwa-Ibom and Kano states. The commission disclosed this via its X handle on Saturday. The rerun/by-elections are currently holding across 26 states in the country. The elections are holding in 80 local government areas across 575 registration areas and 8,934 polling units. BREAKING: S’Court Upholds Fubara’s Election

The Supreme Court, on Thursday, dismissed an appeal by the All Progressives Congress candidate in the Rivers State governorship election, Tonye Cole. Cole asked the apex court to sack Siminalayi Fubara as governor of the state. He alleged that the election was marred by irregularities and that Fubara did not validly resign his previous position as required by the law, before the election.
