Police in Bauchi Arrests Woman for Stabbing Husband To Death

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Salamatu Danjuma, from Nadabo village in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during a heated argument over their child’s custody.

According to a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had been embroiled in a prolonged dispute regarding their six-year-old daughter.

“Initially, there were discussions with the woman’s family about taking in the child, but the husband later refused, leading to heightened tensions,” Wakil stated.

The disagreement took a tragic turn when, in the heat of the argument, Salamatu reportedly grabbed a knife from their bedroom and stabbed her husband.

Upon receiving a distress call, officers from the Bununu Police Divisional Headquarters rushed to the scene and transported the victim to the Cottage Hospital in Bununu. However, medical personnel later confirmed his death due to the injuries sustained.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. Authorities have assured that appropriate legal measures will follow upon completion of the inquiry.
